Migrate from Samsung Banner CMS to xiboplayer
Why Samsung's own path costs you money
The VXT CMS Transformer page openly pitches VXT as "the easy transition" from both MagicINFO and Banner CMS. Three things follow from that:
- Banner CMS has stopped evolving. No significant new features in the last twelve months. Samsung's product roadmap is VXT-shaped, not Banner CMS–shaped.
- VXT charges per screen, every month, forever. Any LED panel you refresh in the next decade will be quoted against that baseline.
- Your content lives in Samsung's cloud. For EU operators, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision has been challenged twice in the CJEU — which is why your procurement office keeps asking about "data residency".

What this buys you:
- No per-screen fees. Flat per-display managed hosting, or free self-hosted. Video walls, zones, and multi-region cost nothing extra.
- Offline-first. The player caches everything locally. If your Ethernet drops, the loop keeps playing. When the link returns, new content syncs.
- EU-hosted. Frankfurt and Madrid. Your DPA points at infrastructure you can audit.
- Keeps your hardware. If Banner CMS runs on your mini-PC today, xiboplayer runs on it tomorrow.
- Open source. AGPL-3.0-or-later. You can walk away at any time, with your content and your layouts, to any vendor, or to yourself.
The installer
We're packaging a single-click Windows installer specifically for Banner CMS migrators. It does exactly what you expect:
- Download
xiboplayer-setup.exefrom this page. - Run it. Paste your display code.
- Reboot. Your LED is playing xiboplayer content instead of Banner CMS content.

While the Windows installer is in final testing, we can stand up a managed CMS for one of your displays this week, walk you through the cutover on a single test screen, and let you run it alongside your existing Banner CMS subscription for as long as you want to compare.
- Zero infrastructure on your side.
- One display free for 30 days.
- Cancel anytime; your content comes with you.
FAQ
Is my Samsung XPS LED panel supported?
Yes. The LED panel is agnostic to which mini-PC drives it and which software is running on that mini-PC. If Banner CMS works today, xiboplayer works tomorrow — the DVI/HDMI signal path is unchanged.
Is my Win10 IoT mini-PC supported?
Yes. Windows 10 IoT LTSC, IoT Enterprise, and Windows 11 IoT are all supported targets for the installer.
Does it work with my existing content?
Your images and videos port directly — standard formats (JPG, PNG, MP4/H.264, WebM). Layouts and scheduling rules are recreated in the CMS, which takes minutes per template. We can help you map common Banner CMS layouts (zoned, ticker, video-with-L-bar) to their xiboplayer equivalents.
Can I run Banner CMS and xiboplayer in parallel during the cutover?
Yes — we recommend it. Spin up one test display, run it for a week, confirm everything looks right, then roll out the rest of the fleet at your own pace. Your Banner CMS subscription stays active throughout; there's no flag day.
Is this really free?
The player software is AGPL-3.0-or-later open source — free to download, run, modify, and redistribute, forever. No per-screen fees, no feature gates.
Managed CMS hosting is an optional paid service (flat per-display, no add-ons). Self-hosting the CMS is always free.
What about data residency?
Managed instances run in the EU (Frankfurt primary, Madrid secondary). Self-hosted instances run wherever you put them. No data ever touches a US cloud unless you explicitly host there.
Who's behind xiboplayer?
It's built by Pau Aliagas and contributors, as an open-source signage stack. Code is on GitHub. Security contact: security@xiboplayer.org — see Security for PGP key and disclosure policy.
